Job summary

Encova Insurance is seeking an Intern, Actuarial for our Columbus, Ohio or Charleston, WV offices. This is a hybrid, full-time summer internship for summer 2027 and requires a minimum of 40 hours per week.

You will work on pricing, underwriting analytics, profitability reporting, reserving and finance in collaboration with Product and Corporate Actuarial teams, gaining exposure to real-world actuarial challenges.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
• Must be able to work at least 40 hours per week during Summer 2027.
• Hybrid schedule with in-office days in Columbus, OH or Charleston, WV.

Responsibilities

• Develop rate indications following standard actuarial practices.
• Review rating plan components using profitability data and competitive analysis.
• Prepare rate filings and coordinate with state insurance departments as needed.
• Perform validation of pricing models for large accounts and assist in pricing.
• Assist actuarial units in pricing indications on large accounts.
• Support management reporting and analytics under supervision.
• Conduct reserve reviews using technical estimation methods and document results.
• Extract, merge, and validate datasets for actuarial analyses.
• Prepare reserve summaries reflecting projections and external factors.
• Handle routine service and research project requests.
