Job Summary:

Embrace is seeking an Actuarial Director where you will be a strategic leader who is building and managing our pet health and wellness products countrywide, reporting to the Head of Product and Analytics. You’ll collaborate with all areas of our business, including claims, marketing, and operations to develop and implement our strategic vision. You’ll work closely with our underwriter to design, develop, file, implement, and manage all our products. This role will manage the full lifecycle of products including ideation/market research, product development, analysis, and monitoring.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the ideation, design, and pricing of new insurance products and enhancements to existing offerings.
  • Work with our underwriter to develop, file, implement, and manage all our products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, technology, and customer service to ensure product alignment with market needs and business objectives.
  • Analyze competitive landscape and identify opportunities for innovation in product offerings.
  • Develop and refine actuarial models to predict claims trends, assess risk, and optimize pricing strategies.
  • Conduct thorough data analysis and statistical modeling to support business decisions and strategy.
  • Monitor and report on actuarial metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Build predictive models to estimate loss costs and customer lifetime values.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s long-term strategy with executive leadership teams.
  • Provide insights into industry trends, emerging risks, and opportunities to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Drive initiatives to maximize profitability while ensuring a fair and equitable approach to risk management.
  • Mentor and lead members of the product and analytics team to support professional growth and development.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of ASA or ACAS actuarial qualification preferred.
  • At least 8+ years of professional actuarial experience, with a significant portion in the insurance industry.
  • At least 2+ years of managing people.
  • Demonstrated experience in product development, pricing strategies, and risk management.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in actuarial software and data analysis tools, particularly SQL, Excel, and Python.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to excellence.
