Job summary

New York Life is seeking an Actuarial Assistant within its Actuarial Development Program. Trainees receive a broad background in actuarial science through rotating assignments and support for actuarial exams. Emphasis on leadership and business skills to foster career growth.

Rotations may include product development, reserving, profitability analysis, risk management, and reporting. Excellent communication, analytic abilities, and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Pursuing FSA designation; preferred to pass two or more SOA exams.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Actuarial Science, Math, CS, DS, Engineering, Economics, Finance).
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred; strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop premiums and benefits for new and enhanced insurance and annuity products.
• Design new products and product features.
• Monitor experience and develop modeling assumptions.
• Calculate reserves and report actuarial balances.
• Project product profitability and analyze drivers of financial performance.
• Quantify risk exposure and propose risk management approaches.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
