Job summary

Shepherd, a technology-driven Managing General Underwriter, seeks an Actuarial Data Analyst to support multiple commercial lines including General Liability, Workers' Comp, and Property. You will analyze data, assist in pricing and reporting, and deliver actionable insights that drive competitive advantage.

The role emphasizes collaboration with underwriters and software engineers, regulatory awareness, and rigorous actuarial work across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in commercial P&C insurance product analysis, actuarial, or competitive analysis functions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or related analytical field.
• Demonstrated experience with commercial insurance products and insurance data analytics.
• Actuarial exams such as P, FM, MAS-I, MAS-II, 5 (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

• Ratemaking & Competitive Intelligence: assist in development, pricing, and filing with state DOIs.
• Actuarial Reporting & Portfolio Monitoring: loss ratio analysis and bordereaux reporting.
• Data Analytics: write SQL queries and build BI dashboards; support dbt workflows.
