Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and investigates actuarial questions/problems
  • Provides explanations and interpretations of current and developing trends in healthcare utilization and costs
  • Supports efforts to identify affordability opportunities to lower the cost of healthcare for the members we serve
  • Communicates results and technical concepts to broad audiences
  • Works with detailed claim and membership data from various sources/data warehouses (e.g. STRATUS)
  • Creates and maintains actuarial models/reports

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics or related field
  • 4+ years of actuarial work experience
  • Healthcare related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 or more exams and on track for Associate of the Society of Actuaries or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel
  • Basic level of proficiency with coding such as SAS/SQL/R/Python
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
