Job summary

Ameriprise Financial's Valuation team is seeking an Actuarial Associate to apply analytical and modeling skills to support GAAP and statutory reserves for our insurance valuation business.

You will develop and enhance actuarial models, analyze results for management, and help mentor junior team members and interns in a collaborative in-office environment with some remote flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4 years).
  • 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • All Introductory ASA exams plus 1 Actuarial/Advanced ASA Exam or Requirement.
  • VEE coursework completion.

Responsibilities

  • Supports GAAP and Statutory reserves analyses for insurance valuation.
  • Develops and enhances actuarial models.
  • Prepares job-related reports and summarizes results for management.
  • Participates in projects within a defined scope and performs actuarial modeling and analysis.
  • Supports validation and development of business controls.

In this role, you'll develop and enhance actuarial models, analyze and communicate results to management, and help drive accurate business insights. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor junior team members and interns while continuing to grow your actuarial expertise in a collaborative environment.Key ResponsibilitiesThis position will support the Corporate Actuarial group with a focus on analyzing GAAP and Statutory reserves for our insurance valuation business. In addition, the position will support initiatives to enhance the understanding of Long-Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI).With limited supervision, provides technical analysis and support by developing, improving, operating and documenting various actuarial models.Prepares job related reports, summarizes and communicates results to middle management.Participates in projects within a well-defined scope and responsibility and performs actuarial modeling and analysis.Supports the validation and development of business controls.Professional development to maintain Actuarial credentialsRequired QualificationsBachelors degree or equivalent (4 years)3-5 years relevant experienceAll Introductory ASA exams plus 1 Actuarial/Advanced ASA Exam or Requirement.Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) coursework completion.3 years of actuarial experience.Ability to work independently; self-starter.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to build strong relationshipsPreferred QualificationsExperience with MS Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI, and other database applicationsIn-Office CollaborationWe are a client-centric, relationship-based business. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
