Job summary

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Inc. is hiring an entry-level actuarial student to join the Actuarial Division. You will work with actuarial models to set reserves, estimate risk adjustment, and develop premiums, while exploring AI applications within Actuarial.

The role offers fully remote, hybrid, or in-office options. The ideal candidate will have completed at least one SOA exam and hold a BS/BA in actuarial science or a related field. This position is based in Chattanooga, TN.

Qualifications

• SOA exam(s) must be completed or in progress.
• BS/BA in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop models for pricing, forecasting, or valuation of Commercial and Government lines of business.
• Retrieve and/or prepare data for model development.
• Monitor emerging experience and analyze actual vs. expected results.
• Present technical results to supervisor and peers.
• Document methods and assumptions used in models and experience monitoring.
• Perform technical peer review within the Actuarial Division.

We are hiring an entry-level actuarial student to join the Actuarial Division at BCBST!In this role, you’ll work with various actuarial models to set reserves, estimate and review risk adjustment, produce monthly forecasts, and develop premiums for our lines of business. You’ll have the opportunity to help shape how AI is used within Actuarial, working with the latest AI models and development tools to build new applications, automate workflows, and enhance actuarial analysis.
