The Actuarial Analyst, Reinsurance is responsible for providing actuarial analysis of traditional reinsurance for LGA's new and in-force business. This role supports the management of in-force business within established risk and profit objectives while continuing to honor contractual policyholder commitments.

Responsibilities
  • Support new and existing traditional reinsurance programs: Collaborate with the team to ensure the smooth operation and enhancement of reinsurance programs.
  • Assist with analysis of reinsurance bids: Evaluate reinsurance bids to form reinsurance pools as needed, ensuring optimal coverage and cost-effectiveness.
  • Aid in the analysis of reinsurer rate changes: Assess options for rate changes, including the ability to recapture or cede to other reinsurers, to maintain favorable terms.
  • Maintain Reinsurance Performance Monitor: Identify non-performing treaties or treaties at risk of rate increases and take proactive measures to address issues.
  • Provide support to the Reinsurance Administration department: Facilitate compliance with the terms of existing treaties.
  • Assist with the implementation of reinsurance treaties for new products: Work closely with the team to implement new treaties and ensure they align with company objectives.
  • Aid the Senior Actuary in the review of new treaties or amendments: Provide support in reviewing and analyzing new treaties or amendments to existing ones.
  • Review sample test cases from the policy administration system: Ensure accuracy and completeness of test cases to maintain data integrity.
  • Assist with analysis of in-force blocks: Analyze blocks of life and annuity business to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Work with the Advanced Analytics team: Collaborate on key assumptions for the in-force block and develop models to influence policyholder behavior.
  • Analyze potential key drivers of policyholder behavior: Identify and analyze factors that influence policyholder behavior and develop strategies to proactively manage them.
  • Run models to gain insights into policyholder behavior: Utilize advanced models to make actionable decisions and improve business outcomes.
  • Support the Senior Actuary in reviewing non-guaranteed elements: Review elements such as COIs and interest spreads and prepare summary reports.
  • Set up and run advanced actuarial projection models: Develop and run projection models to forecast future performance and reconcile differences from previous assumptions.
  • Analyze, summarize, and communicate results: Effectively communicate findings and insights to stakeholders to support decision-making.
  • Other duties as assigned: Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and company objectives.
Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.

Completion of at least 2 Actuarial Exams (preferred but not required).

Experience

Actuarial Internship preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

What's in it for you?

The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $68,900 - $94,800 annually. This is a remote role.

The total compensation package may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long-term incentives, and annual bonuses. The role is eligible for the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan, with a target payment of 8% of base salary, adjusted for performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date. Employees receive 15 vacation days, 10 sick days, and 9 paid holidays annually.
