Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Inc. seeks an experienced actuarial analyst for the Actuarial Leadership Development program.

The role supports competitiveness, affordability, profitability, provider payment reform and health care policy, with local offices in Boston and Hingham, MA. You will work with enterprise data to identify drivers of health care cost and profitability, design visualizations, and develop models to influence product and payment structures while pursuing FSA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, Math, Business, Healthcare or related field strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years professional experience, preferably in healthcare or related industry.
• Minimum of 4 completed actuarial exams required.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in data analysis/extraction/manipulation using tools like SAS, SQL, R, Python, etc. strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years experience developing data visualization in tools such as Tableau and analytic automation (scripting, macros) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• With a rich dataset and a robust Enterprise Data Warehouse to identify emerging drivers of health care trend and cost, market pressures, and profitability.
• Design compelling visualizations and build innovative models to influence new products, provider payment structures, and health care delivery mechanisms.
• Make recommendations to various customers/departments and lead or assist in development of analyses to determine financial performance or evaluate cost/benefit.
• Participate in determining objectives of significant projects or assignments.
