Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama seeks an Actuarial Analyst to support the Actuarial Department in forecasting, pricing, reserving, and trend analysis. You will prepare concise data reports and collaborate with Underwriting and Finance to inform pricing decisions and product changes.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field and at least one SOA exam completed, with strong Excel/Word skills and the ability to work in a hybrid setup at the Hoover, AL office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
• Successful completion of at least 1 SOA exam (not including modules).
• Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Organizational and time management skills to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of staff.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Familiar with guidance from SOA/AAA/NAIC/DOI/CMS/HHS preferred.
• Experience with SQL, R, Python preferred; Tableau/Power BI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist management by performing assigned actuarial work within the department.
• Summarize large data sets into concise reports; reconcile results with other data.
• Support trend analysis, pricing, reserving, and forecasting efforts.
