This Actuarial Analyst will be part of a team that oversees the end-to-end revenue audit processes, including premium and supplemental payment collection, working cross-functionally with IT, membership and many other teams across the organization to ensure revenue accuracy for our Community and State business. This role will be tasked with analyzing claims, eligibility and premium payment files to identify and implement process efficiencies, utilizing a data-driven analytical approach. This role will require an audit-style evaluation approach of processes to support revenue optimization initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and analyze all revenue streams and processes for our Medicaid and applicable Medicare markets to ensure revenue accuracy within Community & State
  • Perform analytics to identify opportunities for revenue accuracy, including interpret and analyze claims, eligibility and premium payment data
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and gap closure and support implementing those process improvements
  • Support projects to completion by contributing to database creation, statistical modeling and financial reports
  • Update automated processes across teams supporting revenue accuracy
  • Update reporting tools to reflect the end-to-end revenue reconciliation process
  • Update management report(s) on monthly results and support monthly presentations with Health Plan leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience in an actuarial or analytic role
  • 3+ months of actuarial experience in an internship or academic actuarial projects
  • Must be on the Actuarial exam track, having passed 1 or more Actuarial exams
  • Advanced or higher level of proficiency with Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with medical claims and/or revenue systems
  • Basic or higher level of proficiency with SAS, SQL and/or Snowflake
  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills

The salary range for this role is $59,500 to $116,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
