Job summary

Milliman’s Tampa Health Practice is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to perform data analysis and actuarial projections using Excel, SQL, SAS, Python or other tools, supporting consulting across health insurance areas.

The role involves reviewing peers’ work, assisting with research and product development, and delivering client reports within project teams. In this role, analysts perform technical work, develop actuarial models, and implement software solutions in collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
  • 2–4 actuarial exams completed or in progress.
  • 2–3 years of actuarial or related industry experience.

Responsibilities

Actuarial Analyst

Milliman’s Tampa Health practice is seeking an Actuarial Analyst who will perform data analysis and actuarial projections using Excel, SQL, SAS, Python or other tools while working with proprietary Milliman programs to assist with consulting for various health insurance work areas.

What You Will Do

The role involves performing data analysis and actuarial projections using Excel, SQL, SAS, Python or other tools while working with proprietary Milliman programs to support consulting across multiple health insurance sectors. The ideal candidate will have experience in the health insurance field, including Medicare Advantage and Part D, the Affordable Care Act, health economics, or the pharmaceutical market space. Responsibilities also include reviewing the work of peers, assisting with research and product development, and contributing to an environment of knowledge and collaboration. Within a project team, consultants and analysts coordinate their efforts to deliver client reports and deliverables. Consultants build relationships with clients, direct projects, and present results. Analysts primarily perform the technical work, which may include data analysis, completing actuarial calculations, developing and utilizing actuarial models, and implementing software solutions.

Professional Qualifications
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field
  • 2-4 actuarial exams
  • 2-3 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • SQL, SAS, VBA, R, Python, or other coding languages is advantageous

The Team

Milliman’s Tampa Health Practice serves a wide variety of organizations, including insurance companies, health plans, healthcare providers, and employers. The staff consists of actuarial professionals, a Pharm D, administrative staff, and other non‑actuarial staff.

Location

Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in‑person in the Milliman office in Tampa, Florida on a weekly basis, with full‑time remote work arrangements considered. The application deadline is July 20, 2026.

Compensation

The overall range for this role is $67,600 – $136,160, based on location:

  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia: $77,740 – $136,160.
  • All other locations: $67,600 – $118,400.

Factors such as education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, and certifications will be considered.
