Job summary

The Laurels of Galesburg, a Ciena Healthcare facility, seeks an Activity Director or Assistant to facilitate engaging activity programs that improve residents’ physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. You will foster a sense of community and belonging within the facility.

Responsibilities include planning and guiding activities, assisting residents to events, maintaining records, and collaborating with volunteers while adhering to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in activities, recreation therapy, and long-term care preferred.
• Computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet residents' needs and interests.
• Assist residents to and from activities and outings as scheduled.
• Maintain good rapport with family members and encourage family involvement.
• Complete attendance and participation records for residents in a timely manner.
• Provide input on assessment and evaluation of residents' participation and communicate concerns to supervisor.
• Support residents' individual needs and preferences.
• Escort residents to and from activities as needed.
• Collaborate with volunteers and volunteer programs at the Activity Director's request.
• Clean equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participate in long-term care survey processes and meet regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
