Job summary

Universal Health Services, in collaboration with Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health Services at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, seeks an Activity Therapist to develop and supervise therapeutic groups for patients with emotional, behavioral, or substance use disorders. The role supports a multidisciplinary team in a 62-bed facility with a strong emphasis on individualized treatment plans and patient care.

• Bachelor's Degree in Art, Music, Recreation Therapy, humanities, SW, or related therapeutic discipline.
• One year minimum in psychiatric setting preferred.
• BLS certification required upon hire.
• CPI training required within 90 days of hire.

• Develop, implement, and update treatment plans; plan medical-based activities to support patient well-being.
• Document patient responses to therapeutic modalities.
• Maintain assigned areas and ensure safety of recreation equipment and inventory.
• Adhere to DHEC requirements for pools and patient areas.
• Suggest new activities for individuals and groups.
• Deliver direct patient care appropriate to patient ages.
• Assist with purchasing supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Activity Therapist is responsible for planning, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating therapeutic groups for patient involvement for treatment goals. Provides continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients. Documentation of patient response to therapeutic modalities is required. Service Excellence is required at all times.

Job Duties

1. Assessment of patients.
2. Planning and facilitating therapeutic activities.
3. Plan activities that are medical based treatment programs to help maintain or improve patient's physical, social, and emotional well-being.
4. Documentation of patient response to therapeutic modalities.
5. Develop, implement, and update treatment plans.
6. Maintains assigned areas.
7. Ensures safe use of recreation equipment and tracks inventory.
8. Maintains adherence to DHEC requirements and monitoring for the swimming pool and other pertinent patient areas.
9. Make recommendations to supervisor on new activities for individuals and groups.
10. Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
11. Recommends the purchasing of supplies.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
