Activity/Recreation Assistant for Memory Care

Date: Thursday, April 24, 2025

Position: Memory Care Programming Assistant

Part-time: Friday & Saturday, 12 pm - 8 pm

We are seeking a compassionate Memory Care Activity Assistant to join our team! The role involves organizing and implementing programs tailored to meet the individual needs of our residents, promoting psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being while fostering self-esteem in a caring environment. The Memory Care Activity Assistant will support the Activity Director in all programming activities.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  1. Lead and implement one-on-one, small group, and large group activities according to the schedule.
  2. Assist in developing and executing an engaging seven-day-a-week activity program.
  3. Support residents' abilities by integrating care activities into programming.
  4. Understand residents' backgrounds, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity, and attention span.
  5. Encourage and motivate residents to participate in activities.
  6. Communicate any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors to the Harbor Care Director.
  7. Remain with the group during excursions to ensure safety.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience with knowledge of aging and disability issues. Qualified by experience and training to develop appropriate programs for elders and disabled individuals.
  • Training and knowledge in recreational activities.
  • Training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrate a positive attitude, and work well under pressure.
