Job summary

Elderwood Village at Colonie in Latham, NY is seeking a Resident Activities Aide for a full-time role. You will help create engaging activities, lead group events, and connect with residents to bring daily joy and energy to the community.

The position pays $16.05-$18.31 per hour, with a 94-bed assisted living setting that emphasizes warmth, relationships, and meaningful experiences for residents and staff alike.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 yrs age required, HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid New York Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Ability to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families and visitors.
  • Inspire and motivate others, create a warm climate for residents and adapt activities.
  • Understanding of residents' rights and needs.
  • Physical stamina for constant activity.
  • English language proficiency at an intermediate level or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Help plan and lead fun recreational and social activities for residents.
  • Encourage participation matching residents' interests and abilities.
  • Spend one-on-one time with residents to learn what makes them smile.
  • Support special events, holiday celebrations, outings, and activities.
  • Partner with volunteers, community organizations, and guests to bring new experiences.
  • Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and inventory.
  • Document resident participation and share observations with the care team.
  • Create an environment where every resident feels welcomed, included, and valued.
  • No two days are the same; may include crafts, games, birthdays, outings, or conversations.

Responsibilities
What You'll Do

As a Resident Activities Aide, you'll help create meaningful opportunities for residents to stay active, connected, engaged, and involved.

Your day may include:

  • Helping plan and lead fun, engaging recreational and social activities
  • Encouraging residents to participate in activities that match their interests and abilities
  • Spending one-on-one time with residents and getting to know what makes them smile
  • Supporting special events, holiday celebrations, entertainment, outings, and community activities
  • Working with volunteers, community organizations, and special guests to bring new experiences to residents
  • Helping maintain activity supplies, equipment, and department inventory
  • Documenting resident participation and sharing observations with the care team
  • Helping create an environment where every resident feels welcomed, included, and valued

No two days have to look the same. One day might involve a craft or game, while another could include a birthday celebration, an outing, live entertainment, or simply connecting with a resident over a conversation.

Qualifications

  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors.In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
