Job summary

Bickford Senior Living is seeking a Montessori Engagement Coordinator to design and lead activity programs for residents, guided by Montessori principles. You will arrange daily happenings, community outings, and special events to enhance residents’ quality of life.

You will collaborate with care teams and families, deliver staff training, and ensure documentation of participation and outcomes. Previous Montessori exposure is valued, with a valid driver's license often required for outings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in activity planning for seniors, preferably in a dementia care setting.
  • Experience with Montessori methods is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certified Activity Director (ADC) or equivalent certification preferred, or certification required by state.

Responsibilities

  • Calendar & social media: post Daily HappYnings, weekly blogs, monthly activity calendar.
  • Montessori Program/Lifestyle Development: design and implement Montessori-aligned activities emphasizing sensory engagement and cognitive stimulation.
  • Resident-Centered Approach: tailor activities to meet residents' needs and autonomy.
  • Collaboration: work with caregivers, nursing staff, and family to integrate activities into daily care plans.
  • Training and Support: provide staff training on Montessori methods and activity-based care for residents with dementia.
  • Evaluation and Adaptation: assess activity effectiveness and adjust plans as residents' needs evolve.
  • Documentation: maintain records of participation and report outcomes of programs.
  • Community Engagement: plan and supervise community outings ensuring safety and enjoyment.
  • Special Events: create activities and environments for themed meals, holidays, and events.
  • Interdisciplinary Team Meetings: participate and contribute to resident care plans.
