Job summary

Bickford Senior Living is seeking a Montessori Engagement Coordinator in Iowa City to design and deliver activity programs for residents using Montessori-inspired approaches.

You will lead calendar planning, coordinate with care staff and families, and supervise staff training while ensuring safety and meaningful engagement for residents with dementia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in activity planning for seniors, dementia care preferred.
  • Experience with Montessori methods is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Calendar & Social Media: design and post the Daily HappYnings; create monthly activity calendars.
  • Montessori Program: implement activities aligned with Montessori principles for sensory and cognitive engagement.
  • Resident-centered: tailor activities to individual residents' needs and preferences.
  • Collaboration: work with caregivers, nursing staff, and families to integrate activities into care plans.
  • Training & Support: train staff on Montessori methods and activity-based care.
  • Documentation: maintain records of participation and outcomes of programs.
  • Community Engagement: plan chaperoned outings ensuring safety and enjoyment.
  • Special Events: create activities for themed meals, holidays and events.
  • Interdisciplinary Meetings: contribute to resident care plan development.

Experience with Montessori methods is highly desirable.Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Certifications: Certified Activity Director (ADC) or equivalent certification preferred, or certification required by state.
