Your Role Includes:
Planning & Implementing Activities: Design and carry out engaging individual and group activities to meet residents' physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs
Promoting Health & Social Interaction: Organize events that promote overall well-being, including physical activities, arts and crafts, social events, and mental stimulation
Incorporating Residents' Interests: Tailor activities to residents’ interests and life experiences to ensure meaningful participation
Fostering Self-Expression: Provide opportunities for residents to express themselves and engage in choices that matter to them
Community Engagement: Work with local organizations and resources to bring external activities and experiences into the facility
Resident Assessments & Care Plans: Document progress and tailor activities to residents' changing needs and preferences
Team Leadership: Supervise and support Activity Aides, ensuring they understand their duties and follow through with documentation and work practices
Coordinating Religious & Cultural Services: Help plan and oversee services to cater to residents’ spiritual needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy (or equivalent experience)
- Eligible for registration as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with the National Therapeutic Recreation Society
- 2+ years of experience in a social or recreational program, with at least 1 year in a healthcare or long-term care setting
- Ability to engage and connect with residents from all walks of life
- Valid background check and no history of abuse or neglect
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Spanish speakingPreferred
Additional Skills & Abilities:
Ability to make calculations and follow detailed oral and written instructions
Ability to work in a team-oriented and dynamic environment
Flexibility to adapt and implement activities that cater to all residents' needs, including those with special or adaptive needs
