Job summary

Luxor Healthcare is seeking an Activity Director to join our long-term care community. The role focuses on assessing resident interests, planning activities, and coordinating with volunteers to support engagement and well-being.

The position emphasizes encouraging participation, managing event logistics, and maintaining a cheerful environment for residents throughout daily routines and seasonal activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in activities and handicrafts is preferred.
• Verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents to determine appropriate activities and interests.
• Encourage participation to stimulate well-being and communication.
• Coordinate the activity program with volunteers and existing routines.
• Plan events, entertainment, games, and crafts, involving residents as appropriate.
• Maintain a pleasant environment and assist with decorations and displaying personal items.
• Motivate residents to engage in life and community activities.
• Supervise the activity programs and give special attention to those in need.
• Ensure the activity area is orderly before and after activities.

Activity Director (Long Term Care)

We are a seeking an Activity Director to join our community!

Activity Director Job Responsibilities

• Assessing residents to determine activities that are appropriate for their needs and interest.
• Providing and encouraging resident(s) to participate in activities that stimulate and promote resident interest, communication, and general well being.
• Coordinating the activity program with volunteers and other groups, taking into account already established routines in order to fit the activity program into the facility’s overall pattern.
• Planning special events, parties, entertainment, games, and crafts; encourages residents to assist as appropriate.
• Maintaining a pleasant and cheerful nursing home environment by helping with seasonal decorations, decorate bulletin boards, and assist residents in displaying personal items in their rooms.
• Assisting in finding methods to motivate residents to take an interest in life and the community.
• Supervising the overall activity programs, providing special attention to residents in the group that need it.
• Seeing that the activity area is in good order before and after each activity.

Activity Director Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D certificate
• Experience in various activities and handicrafts
