Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a dedicated individual to enhance client services at the Memory Fitness Center. In this role, you will assist in creating a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families, ensuring a fulfilling experience for participants. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing engaging group activities, monitoring client needs, and supporting program evaluation. Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in conducting recreational activities for geriatric and dementia patients.
  • Certification as an Activity Assistant is preferred.

Job Details

Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator - Memory Fitness Center, assists in providing effective client services to patients and families referred to the Memory Fitness Center. Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria to make Abington - Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for patients and employees. Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Memory Fitness Center to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for clients. Develops and maintains the physical setting to maximize program benefits. Assists in operating the program by maintaining the daily schedule, meeting participants' needs, and adhering to budget parameters. Initiates and modifies activities to maintain an inclusive milieu and contributes to the assessment process for program applicants. Supports ongoing program evaluation by monitoring client needs and making appropriate modifications. Fulfills duties of the Program Coordinator in their absence, including developing and implementing group activities, supervising interns and volunteers, maintaining records, and marketing the program. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  1. Education: High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation preferred.
  2. Experience: At least 2 years of experience conducting recreational group activities for the geriatric population and individuals with dementia.
  3. Certification: Certified Activity Assistant (AAC) preferred.
