Job summary

Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center is seeking an Activity Assistant PRN to help implement recreation activities and support patients through group sessions and individual contact. You will assist with activity therapy, promote patient participation, and maintain safety and supplies under supervision.

The role involves documenting interventions in the medical record and collaborating with the Clinical Director to support the patient experience and recovery within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Degree or coursework in music, art or recreation preferred.
• Minimum one year experience with psychiatric, physical rehab or medical patients.

Responsibilities

• You will report directly to the Clinical Director and implement general recreation activities with guidance from the Activity therapist.
• Assist with Activity Therapy groups and activities on and off the acute unit.
• Encourage patient participation in groups and provide emotional support as needed.
• Manage safety and orderliness of activity areas and maintain supplies.
• Document activity interventions and outcomes in the patient’s medical record per policies.

Available hours for this position are typically 6-8 hours/ shift, Wednesday- Saturday and includes some sharing of holiday shift coverage.

Job Summary And Qualifications

• You will report directly to the Clinical Director and will be responsible for implementing general recreation activities with direction/ assistance from the Activity therapist
• You will assist with Activity Therapy groups and activities both on and off the acute unit
• You will encourage patient participation in groups and provides emotional support and encouragement measures when needed
• You will manage safety and orderliness of activity group areas and other patient and visitor areas and maintain appropriate quantity and variety of activity therapy supplies
• You will document activity interventions and outcomes, in the patient’s medical record congruent with departmental policies

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Diploma preferred
• Degree or coursework in music, art or recreation preferred
• Minimum one (1) year experience working with psychiatric, physical rehabilitation or medical patients
• Preferred previous recreation experience with an emphasis on groups
