Job summary

Fairfield Heights Health & Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated activity assistant to support the Activity Director in assessing, organizing, and implementing activity and recreational services for residents. This role emphasizes high energy, fun, and engagement with seniors in a long-term care setting.

The candidate should have a CNA license and at least one year of experience in long-term care, with preferred experience in dementia care and activity programming.

Qualifications

• CNA license is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Activities Certification is preferred but not required.
• One year of experience in long term care is required.
• One year of experience conducting social/recreational programs in the last five years is preferred.
• Experience with residents with Dementia is preferred or willingness to become dementia certified.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and delivering activity/recreational programs to promote residents' engagement and functioning.
• Encourage resident participation in group and individual activities (arts/crafts, outings, religious, educational, community services, recreation).
• Assist with activity documentation in line with regulations and policies.
• Submit supplies list to the Activity/Recreation Director and receipts for expenditures.
• Maintain precautions/limitations list on each resident.
• Assist in organizing and supervising volunteers in the activity program.
• Assist with Resident Council Meetings as needed.
• Help plan community activities that involve community, staff, families and residents.
• Assist in creating and posting a monthly calendar of activities.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

• Assists in the development and delivery of activity/recreational programs to promote the residents' opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels.
• Encourages resident participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities, intellectual/educational activities, community/center service activities, recreational activities, etc.
• Assists in completing activity documentation, when needed, if trained and in conjunction with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Submits supplies list to Activity/Recreation Director and submits receipts for activity expenditures.
• Maintains precautions/limitations list on each resident.
• Assists Activity/Recreation Director in the organization and supervision of the volunteer program including recruiting and training volunteers.
• Assists with Resident Council Meetings when necessary.
• Assists in planning community activities that jointly include the community, staff, families and residents.
• Assists in the completion of a monthly calendar of available activity/recreational programs and posts it in the center.
