Job summary

You will plan, organize, and facilitate recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to physical, emotional, and social needs, collaborating with healthcare professionals and family. You will monitor progress, document observations, maintain a safe environment, and support care plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of previous experience or training in activity coordination, recreational therapy, or a related field within health care or social assistance.
• Basic knowledge of safety and infection control procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including elderly and individuals with disabilities.
• Must hold an active CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of clients or residents.
• Assist participants in engaging with activities safely and effectively, providing encouragement and support as needed.
• Monitor and document participant progress and responses to activities, communicating observations to healthcare team members.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized activity environment, ensuring all materials and equipment are properly sanitized and stored.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to tailor activity programs that align with individual care plans and therapeutic goals.
• Maintaining the Confidentiality of all residents' information including protected health information.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of Previous experience or training in activity coordination, recreational therapy, or a related field within health care or social assistance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as an Activity Director (e.g., NCTRC or equivalent).
• Experience working in long-term care, assisted living, or rehabilitation settings.

• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Proficiency in using technology to plan and document activities.
