Job Summary

The Activity Assistant supports the Activity Director in implementing a quality activity program by motivating residents and emphasizing teamwork.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Minimum of 10 hours of in-service training per year related to recreation/activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities to enable maximum participation.
• Record attendance and participation in activities.
• Lead group and individual activities.
• Maintain volunteer records.
• Coordinate arts and crafts programs.
• Review and assist with resident activity care plans.
• Participate in seasonal and holiday decorating.
• Provide residents with activity calendars.
• Organize resident birthday recognitions.
• Participate in community outings and events.
• Escort residents to outside appointments.
• Help stock and monitor the resident store.
• Report incidents and accidents immediately to nursing staff.
• Report injuries and suspected abuse promptly.
• Observe and report repairs and environmental issues.
• Attend departmental meetings and in-services.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Activity Director.
