Job summary

The Laurels of Blanchester, part of Ciena Healthcare, seeks an Activity Director or Assistant Activity Director to facilitate engaging activity programs designed to meet the interests and well-being of each patient while fostering a sense of community.

You will support residents in attending activities, coordinate volunteers, and maintain attendance and participation records in collaboration with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in activities, recreation therapy, and long-term care preferred.
• Computer skills are required.
• Meets state and federal criminal background check requirements.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each Resident.
• Assist Resident to and from activity programs and outings as scheduled, as required.
• Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
• Completes appropriate records indicating Resident’s attendance and participation in individual and group activities in a timely basis.
• Provide input to the assessment and evaluation of Residents' participation when requested. Communicates Resident’s concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.
• Supports Residents' individual needs, preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices.
• Assists with escorting Residents to and from activities.
• Assist and work with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Activity Director.
• Cleans equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participates in long-term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
