Job summary

Regency at Livonia, part of Ciena Healthcare, is seeking an Activity Director/Assistant Activity Director to support engaging programs that promote well-being and community for residents. You will help plan, facilitate, and document activities, coordinate with families and volunteers, and ensure safe, person-centered care in a long-term care setting.

The role requires a minimum high school diploma or GED, and experience in activities or recreation therapy in long-term care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in activities, recreation therapy, and long-term care preferred.
• Computer skills are required.
• Meets state and federal criminal background check requirements.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet the Residents' needs and interests.
• Assist Residents to and from activity programs and outings as scheduled.
• Maintains rapport with families and encourages family involvement.
• Completes attendance/participation records in a timely basis.
• Provides input to assessment/evaluation of Residents' participation and communicates concerns.
• Supports Residents' individual needs and routines.
• Assists with escorting Residents to activities.
• Works with volunteers and volunteer programs as requested by the Activity Director.
• Cleans equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participates in long-term care surveys, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each Resident.


• Assist Resident to and from activity programs and outings as scheduled, as required.


• Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.


• Completes appropriate records indicating Resident’s attendance and participation in individual and group activities in a timely basis.


• Provide input to the assessment and evaluation of Residents' participation when requested. Communicates Resident’s concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.


• Supports Residents' individual needs, preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices.


• Assists with escorting Residents to and from activities.


• Assist and work with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Activity Director.


• Cleans equipment and materials used for activities.


• Participates in long‑term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED)


• Previous experience in activities, recreation therapy, and long‑term care preferred.
