Job summary

Ciena Healthcare at Regency at St Clair Shores is seeking an activities assistant to help facilitate engaging programs for residents. You will support participation, assist with outings, and help maintain a warm, family-centered environment in a skilled nursing setting.

The role involves coordinating with the Activity Director to ensure activities meet residents' needs and preferences, documenting participation, and cooperating with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or GED.
• Experience in activities, recreation therapy, or long-term care preferred.
• Computer skills required.
• Background check as per state and federal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates activity programs to meet residents' interests.
• Assist residents to and from activities and outings as scheduled.
• Maintain rapport with family members and encourage family support.
• Complete attendance and participation records in a timely basis.
• Provide input to assessments and communicate residents' concerns to supervisor.
• Assist with escorting residents to activities.
• Support volunteers and volunteer programs as requested.
• Clean equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participate in regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position include the following. This list is not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive. There may be additional essential functions based on the unique nature of the position or environment.

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each Resident.
• Assist Resident to and from activity programs and outings as scheduled, as required.
• Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
• Completes appropriate records indicating Resident’s attendance and participation in individual and group activities in a timely basis.
• Provide input to the assessment and evaluation of Residents' participation when requested. Communicates Resident’s concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.
• Supports Residents' individual needs, preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices.
• Assists with escorting Residents to and from activities.
• Assist and work with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Activity Director.
• Cleans equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participates in long-term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education and/or Experience:
• Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Previous experience in activities, recreation therapy, and long-term care preferred.
• Computer skills are required.
• Meets state and federal criminal background check requirements.
