Job summary

Spindletop Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beaumont, TX is seeking an Activities Aide to plan and facilitate resident-centered activities, both individually and in groups. You will help schedule services, prepare monthly calendars, participate in community events, and document participation.

Experience in long-term care activities is preferred; a high school diploma is preferred; CNA is preferred.

Qualifications

• A school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
• A Certified Nurse Aide is preferred.
• Previous experience in activity or recreational department in long-term care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate individual and group activities based on residents' needs.
• Ensure activities cater to high and low functioning residents.
• Assist with scheduling beauty parlor/barber activities and posting calendars.
• Provide activities for bedfast residents and document in records.
• Prepare monthly calendar and distribute calendars to residents and rooms.
• Assist with generating the facility newsletter and community events.

Primary Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Facilitate both individual and group activities based on the individual needs of the residents.
• Ensure that activities are occurring for both high and low functioning residents
• Assist with scheduling beauty parlor and barber activities
• Provide activities for residents that are bedfast and/or unable to participate in group activities (one to one) and document in the appropriate record
• Assist with the preparation of monthly calendar and posting in an area accessible, highly visible and frequented by residents and visitors. Calendar should also be provided to each resident and posted in room
• Assist with generating the facility newsletter
• Participate in community events related to the interest of the facility.
• Attend in-services as necessary
• Assist residents to and from activities
• Assist with activity program including Residents’ Council and night and weekend activities as needed
• Deliver resident mail daily
• Other duties as assigned by the Activity Director and/or Administrator
