Job summary

Deer Meadows Retirement Community is seeking an Activity Aide to join our care team. If you take pride in a friendly, respectful, safe and collaborative environment, you belong with us. You will support residents with engaging activities aligned to the monthly calendar and help maintain participation records.

The role requires a great personality, love for working with the elderly, and some computer/tech experience. Weekend and evening shifts are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience working with the elderly is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic computer/tech skills are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the monthly recreational calendar and conduct activities.
• Encourage resident participation in programs and activities.
• Maintain records of residents’ daily activity participation.
• Observe residents and share information with staff as appropriate.
• Follow departmental budget guidelines.
• Provide emotional and social support to residents.
• Respect residents’ dignity and encourage independence.
• Escort residents to activities away from the property as assigned.
• Assist with registration of residents for trips and programs.
• Assist in surveying and interviewing residents to determine interests, talents and satisfaction.
• Weekend shifts (Sat-Sun) and Tuesdays & Thursday evenings.
• Some computer/tech experience is required for this position.

The Activity Aide is an integral part the care team. We are looking for the right candidate who has a great personality, loves working with the elderly and has experience in:

• Adhering to monthly recreational calendar and conducts various activities at the director of the Director of Community Programming.
• Encourages resident participation in programs and activities.
• Maintains a record of residents’ daily activity participation in scheduled & unscheduled activities.
• Maintains general observation of residents and shares appropriate information with staff.
• Follows departmental budget guidelines.
• Provides emotional and social support to residents.
• Respects the dignity of and encourages the independence of all residents.
• Escorts residents on activities away from the property as assigned.
• Assists with the registration of residents for trips and programs.
