Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activity Aide to join our team at Landmark of Itasca, a cutting-edge senior living community in Itasca, IL. As an Activity Aide, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing activity programs that enhance the lives of our residents. Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist the Activity Director in carrying out a planned activity program for residents, including planning and implementing engaging activities, events, and programs
  • Maintain accurate records of resident attendance, activities, and events
  • Transport residents to and from activities and events, ensuring their safety and comfort
  • Provide assistance with daily living activities, such as dressing, grooming, and feeding, as needed
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of resident care plans
Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain attendance records for resident activities, on a daily basis
  • Assist Activity Director with seasonal décor of the facility
  • Assist in transporting residents to and from activities
  • Keep track of department timesheets and deliver them to the Activities Director on Friday of each week
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning up after parties and programs, when necessary
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude when interacting with residents, families, and colleagues
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with inter-department personnel and other departments within the facility
  • Deliver excellent customer service to residents and their families
Safety:
  • Demonstrate the ability to locate emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers
  • Understand and participate in fire and disaster drills
  • Identify and respond appropriately to potential behavioral outbursts
  • Use facility equipment safely and recognize, remove, and/or report potential hazards
Infection Control:
  • Demonstrate proper hand washing techniques
  • Maintain proper food handling techniques and ensure glove usage, when necessary
  • Dispose of waste properly and understand and maintain activity/kitchen sanitation procedures, when necessary
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, reach, balance, push, pull, and climb with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 34 pounds frequently, 35-50 pounds occasionally, and 51-100 pounds occasionally with assistance
  • May be subject to call-back during emergency conditions, exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, and handling of hazardous chemicals
Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma required
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Must present a positive image of the facility
  • Must meet health assessment requirements
