Job summary

Laurels of Carson City in Carson City, MI is seeking a Part-Time Activities Assistant to support the Activity Director by facilitating activity programs designed to meet residents' interests and promote their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. This on-site role requires a high school diploma or GED, with prior experience in activities or recreation therapy preferred and basic computer skills.

• Previous experience in activities, recreation therapy, and long-term care preferred.
• Computer skills are required.
• Meets state and federal criminal background check requirements.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates activity programs as planned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each Resident.
• Assist Resident to and from activity programs and outings as scheduled, as required.
• Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
• Completes appropriate records indicating Resident’s attendance and participation in individual and group activities in a timely basis.
• Provide input to the assessment and evaluation of Residents' participation when requested. Communicates Resident’s concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.
• Supports Residents' individual needs, preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices.
• Assists with escorting Residents to and from activities.
• Assist and work with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Activity Director.
• Cleans equipment and materials used for activities.
• Participates in long-term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
