Job summary

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking an Activity Therapist for a full-time day shift. You will direct activity therapy programs, supervise staff, and coordinate multidisciplinary care for behavioral health and rehab services at our Reno-area facility.

Responsibilities include program assessment, planning, implementation, and discharge planning, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering patient-focused therapeutic recreation.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Recreation Therapy or related field.
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with the NCTRC within one year of employment OR
• Degree in program or 5 years of Activities/Recreation experience.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Orient new Activity Therapy staff to departmental policies and expectations.
• Ensure Activity Therapy compliance with State and regulatory agencies.
• Train staff in use of recreational, therapeutic, and teambuilding equipment.
• Interpret assessments and develop measurable goals and objectives.

Northwest Specialty Hospital, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, brings expanded services to a new building located at 6225 Sharlands Ave. in Northwest Reno. The facility will offer acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health services.

Inpatient behavioral health services or residential mental health care is a long-term stay at a residential mental health facility that allows for the maximum structure and treatment for mental health disorders.

From support systems, education and medication management to family, individual and group therapies, patients live at the residential facility while attending treatment. This Activity Therapist opportunity is full time at 40 hour per week, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule. This dynamic individual will provide direction of the activity therapy programs and staff. Oversees general recreation activities. Maintains participation in the multidisciplinary team. Supervises and/or administers all activity therapy programming, from assessment, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation, to discharge planning.

Qualifications
