About this position

Lone Mountain Ranch

For more than 100 years, Lone Mountain Ranch has welcomed guests to beautiful Big Sky, Montana. Set on 148 acres just minutes from Yellowstone National Park, the Ranch is known for authentic Western hospitality, exceptional dining, outdoor adventures, and unforgettable guest experiences.

The beauty of the Ranch may be what guests remember first, but it's the people who create the experiences they remember most. Together, we take pride in caring for this special place—preserving its history, stewarding its natural surroundings, and creating meaningful experiences for every guest who visits.

Whether you're welcoming guests, preparing memorable meals, caring for our historic property, or supporting operations behind the scenes, every role contributes to creating unforgettable experiences while helping shape the next chapter of Lone Mountain Ranch's legacy.

Lead the Adventure at Lone Mountain Ranch

The Activities Manager leads Lone Mountain Ranch’s Nordic/Nature department, overseeing the people, programming, and operational details behind the outdoor experiences that connect our guests to the Ranch and surrounding landscape.

This is an active leadership role for someone who understands outdoor recreation and knows how to build a well-organized, accountable, and enthusiastic team. From scheduling guides and maintaining equipment to monitoring trails, supporting permitting requirements, and adapting to changing conditions, the Activities Manager ensures the department is prepared to deliver safe, memorable experiences throughout the season.

  • Respond appropriately to changing weather, wildlife, trail, and operating conditions.

  • Collaborate across departments to support seamless guest experiences and broader Ranch operations.

Who Thrives Here

You’ll do well in this role if you are an experienced leader who enjoys being outdoors as much as you enjoy building a strong team. You notice the details, stay organized when plans change, and understand that successful outdoor programming depends on preparation, communication, follow-through, and sound judgment.

You’re comfortable balancing schedules, people, equipment, safety, and guest expectations—and you’re willing to step into the operation alongside your team when needed.

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of an active outdoor recreation operation, including navigating uneven terrain and lifting and carrying equipment up to 40 pounds.

  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other hours based on seasonal and operational needs.
