Job summary

CommuniCare Health in Ivydale, WV is seeking an Activities Director to lead our activities team and enhance resident life. You will plan and oversee diversified programs, engage residents in personalized activities, and collaborate with staff, families, and local partners to promote well-being.

The role requires a Bachelor's in therapeutic recreation or a 90-hour course, plus prior management experience in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or related field OR 90-hour course for activities professionals and continuing education.
• Prior management, supervisory, or leadership experience in a healthcare environment.
• Must have the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must be able to deal tactfully with staff, residents, and the public.
• Active state driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate resident-centered activities.
• Involve residents in planning and advocate for their needs and rights.
• Attend meetings including resident/family council and department meetings.
• Maintain records and reports related to activities.
• May participate in fundraising events.
• Promote relationships with community organizations through outings and volunteers.
• Identify need for and perform disciplinary action as required.

Prior management experience is required. This position may require driving, so an active driver's license with a good driving record is required.Job duties may include:Plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate all diversified resident-centered activities as neededInvolve residents in planning individualized activities programs, oversee residents' participation, and advocate for residents regarding their needs, preferences, interests, and rightsParticipate in meetings including resident council meetings, family council meetings, department head meetings, and other committee meetings as requiredMaintain records and reports related to activitiesMay participate in fundraising eventsPromote positive relationships with individuals, businesses, and organizations in the community through outings and activities provided by volunteersIdentify need for and perform disciplinary action as requiredWe have a great knowledgeable staff, and we are looking for someone that wants to be a part of an experienced, caring team.
