Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Activities Coordinator for Senior Services will plan activities for all residents based on comprehensive assessments and care plans, considering each resident's preferences. The program will support residents in choosing activities, including facility-sponsored group and individual activities, as well as independent activities, aimed at promoting their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. The goal is to encourage independence and community interaction.

Job Qualifications
Education/Experience

Qualifications must be from an accredited institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation if education beyond high school is required.

Minimum Required:

  • Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional with one of the following:
  • (A) Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990;
  • (B) Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, including at least one year full-time in a therapeutic activities program;
  • (C) Licensed occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant in Wisconsin;
  • (D) Completion of a training course approved by the State.
Preferred/Optional:

Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation.

Certifications/Licenses

Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within three months of hire;
  • Certified Nursing Assistant Course completion within six months of hire;
  • Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in Wisconsin if meeting Education/Experience criteria “C”.
