Position Summary

The activity coordinator plans, organizes, and directs therapeutic activities to provide adolescent and adult patients with outlets for creativity, expression, socialization, exercise, and learning, aligned with treatment goals.

Responsibilities

• Supervises group activities.
• Organizes and arranges group activities.
• Contributes to multidisciplinary treatment plans.
• Counsels and educates patients.
• Communicates events to staff.
• Determines program needs and purchases supplies with Clinical Director.
• Participates in treatment teams on a rotating basis.
• Counsels patients in activity selection based on interests and skills.
• Meets with the Clinical Director as needed.
• Seeks consultation from Clinical Director.
• Communicates with unit leaders about patient information and program needs.
• Participates in CQI activities.
• Assists with activity program budget preparation.
• Demonstrates competency in age-specific care skills.
• Maintains professional growth through seminars and workshops.
• Attends meetings and participates in committees and professional organizations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in mental health or Recreational Therapy preferred.

Minimum Experience: One year hospital experience in mental health or related area, or equivalent education and experience.

Licensure Requirement: CPR required.
