Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your job is to support the Activities Director in assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing recreational services tailored to residents' needs and interests, in accordance with standards and policies.

    • Assist in developing and delivering therapeutic recreational services to promote engagement and maintain functioning levels.
    • Maintain precautions/limitations list for each resident.
    • Encourage resident participation in various activities including arts/crafts, outings, religious, educational, and recreational.
    • Assist in completing activity documentation and forms.
    • Submit supplies list and receipts for activity expenditures.
    • Help organize and supervise volunteer programs, including recruiting and training volunteers.
    • Assist with Resident Council Meetings as needed.
    • Plan community activities involving staff, families, and residents.
    • Prepare and post monthly activity calendars.
    • Respect residents' rights to self-determination; document refusals and inform residents of alternatives.
    • Assist in developing the Center Newsletter, if applicable.
    • Implement activity programs in the absence of the Activities Director, if needed.
    • Coordinate Welcoming Committee activities, including obtaining new resident information and preparing flowers.
    • Record resident attendance and participation daily.

Education

High School Diploma with coursework in recreation preferred; ability to read and write required. Completion of a state-approved activity training course is a plus.

Experience
