Job description

Arlington Gardens Healthcare Center is hiring a part-time Activities Assistant!

Pay: $17 per hour

Shift: Thursday through Saturday

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Carry out individual and group activities that meet the functional levels, needs, and interests (including cultural and religious interests) of each resident.
  2. Support residents' individual needs, preferences, routines, concerns, and choices.
  3. Communicate information to immediate supervisor and other caregivers as appropriate.
  4. Provide activities for bed-bound residents and those confined to their rooms, reflecting lifelong interests such as music, reading, visits, and in-room projects suitable to their abilities.
  5. Assist residents with activities as needed.
  6. Adapt activities to match residents' cognitive and physical abilities using task segmentation, verbal prompts, setup assistance, physical assists, and demonstrations.
  7. Assist the Activity Director in developing activity calendars, post them on resident units, and distribute to residents.
  8. Monitor the environment for safety or fire hazards and report issues promptly.
  9. Report housekeeping and maintenance problems immediately.
  10. Keep activity equipment and supplies properly stored.
  11. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe activity space that feels "homelike," including proper furniture placement and organized storage.
  12. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility is a plus.
  • Experience as an activity aide or director is a plus.
  • CPR certification is a plus.
