Job summary

Ivy Gables Senior Living in Wilmington, DE is hiring a full-time Recreation Assistant to plan and implement engaging activities that stimulate residents cognitively, culturally, creatively, and socially. You will coordinate calendars, prepare materials, and work with the care team to promote well-being and social interaction.

The role requires experience with senior citizens and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Experience working with senior citizens.
• High School education or GED.

Responsibilities

• Post calendar in place known by all residents by the 1st of each month.
• Distribute a monthly calendar of upcoming events to each resident.
• Set up room prior to activity or program by assembling all materials and equipment needed.
• Understand and read directions for planned activities.
• Facilitate daily activities as planned on the Activities calendar.
• Invite and remind residents of upcoming activities through out the day.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities inside or outside the residence.
• Coordinate the activities program with other resident services and departments.
• Adapt recreation to residents' age, abilities, interests and background.
• Document resident participation and reasons for non-participation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Hourly pay $15.25/hour

Requires working every Sunday and rotating holiday schedule.

Job Description

Assists Director to create, plan and implement a vital program of recreation that stimulates residents cognitively, culturally, creatively, psychologically, spiritually, and physically; and promotes individual and group pleasure and social interaction.

Essential functions

• Post calendar in place known by all residents by the 1st of each month.
• Distribute a monthly calendar of upcoming events to each resident.
• Set up room prior to activity or program by assembling all materials and equipment needed.
• Have a full understanding of the planned activities, reading all directions carefully
• Facilitate daily activities as planned on the Activities calendar.
• Invite and remind residents of upcoming activities through out the day
• Encourage and/or assist residents to become involved in activities inside and/or outside the residence.
• Coordinate the activities program with the schedule of other resident services and other departments.
• Adapts recreation to program which takes into consideration the age, sex, physical and mental capabilities, interests and the cultural and social background of the residents.
• Document resident participation in activities and reason for not participating.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications
