Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in activities, recreation, customer service, or related field preferred.
• Experience with geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care populations preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting daily recreational and social activities.
• Lead games, arts and crafts, music programs, exercise groups, and holiday events.
• Encourage resident participation and promote a positive atmosphere.
• Develop relationships with residents and families to understand interests and preferences.
• Provide one-on-one visits and companionship as needed.
• Transport residents to activities when appropriate.
• Set up, organize, and clean activity areas and equipment.
• Observe and document resident participation and engagement.
• Help maintain activity supplies and inventory.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to support resident-centered care.
• Follow facility policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Position Summary

The Activities Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities designed to meet the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of residents. This role plays an important part in fostering a vibrant and engaging environment where residents can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting daily recreational and social activities.
• Lead and participate in games, arts and crafts, music programs, exercise groups, special events, and holiday celebrations.
• Encourage resident participation and promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
• Develop meaningful relationships with residents and families to better understand individual interests and preferences.
• Provide one-on-one visits and companionship to residents as needed.
• Assist with transporting residents to and from activities when appropriate.
• Set up, organize, and clean activity areas and equipment before and after events.
• Observe and document resident participation, engagement, and responses to activities.
• Help maintain activity supplies and inventory.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support resident-centered care and programming.
