Overview

The Wellness Assistant is responsible for enhancing residents’ quality of life through social, spiritual, therapeutic, and other wellness activities and programs within the community.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing the community’s wellness programming. Facilitate daily events and programs to meet residents’ needs. Collect data to support residents’ assessment processes. Assist in implementing the care plan based on residents’ needs.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in long-term care
• BLS Certification
• First Aid Certification
• If leading the program, meet qualifications as per federal regulations §483.15(f)(2):
• Be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional, licensed or registered by the state if applicable;
• Be eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional by a recognized accrediting body (post-October 1, 1990);
• Have 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, including 1 year full-time in a healthcare setting;
• Be a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant;
• Or have completed a state-approved training course.
