Ocean Grove Post Acute in beautiful Millsboro, DE is currently hiring for a Full Time Activities Assistant!

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:30am-5pm (occasional weekends as needed)

Looking for a compassionate and caring person with a genuine interest in working with seniors. This position works closely with the senior population in our memory care unit who have Alzheimer's disease and other diseases of dementia. This candidate will be assisting in creating and implementing recreation programs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Plan and execute activities tailored to the dementia-specific population, including small groups, one-on-one sessions, and sensory stimulation.
2. Develop/implement group and individual activities to address participants' cognitive, physical, social and artistic needs.
3. Assist in creating written plans of care for each participant's activities program.
4. Contribute to the development of the monthly calendar.
5. Monitor inventory of recreation therapy supplies and equipment.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Experience in recreation activities strongly preferred.
3. Preferred experience in long-term care or geriatric programs.
4. Strong communication, written, organizational and conflict management skills.
5. Ability to work independently and adapt to change.
