Job summary

The Valley Manor Care Center, part of Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS), in Montrose, CO, seeks an Activities Assistant. You will coordinate social, recreational, and spiritual activities for residents living with varied care needs in a welcoming healthcare setting.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and healthcare exposure; training and ongoing development are provided. Schedule highlights include Sunday through Thursday shifts with nine-hour coverage and benefits like

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Preference given to those with therapeutic recreation coursework.
• Minimum one year of healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate social, recreational, purposeful and spiritual activities for residents.
• Perform defined work routines and daily assignments as directed by Therapeutic Recreation Director.
• Assist with social activities and recreational programs that provide spiritual, physical, social, and intellectual challenges.

Pay Range: $17.40 - $19.65 per hour, based on previous work experience.

Schedules: Sunday - Thursday, 8-hours shifts.

What You Bring (Requirements)

• High school graduate or equivalent education is preferred. Preference given to persons who have completed courses in therapeutic recreation.
• Minimum one year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions; to prepare written reports and documentation.
• Ability to work with residents of varying levels of responsiveness.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

The Activities Assistant will coordinate social, recreational, purposeful and spiritual activities to residents, whose needs include psychological, physical, and cognitive challenges.

• Perform defined work routines and daily assignments, using various department supplies and equipment, as assigned by the Therapeutic Recreation Director.
• Assist with social activities and recreational programs that provide spiritual, physical, social, and intellectual challenges for facility residents.
• Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Therapeutic Recreation Director.
