A leading healthcare facility is seeking an Activities Assistant to plan and conduct activities for residents. The role involves facilitating communication among staff, residents, and families, developing activity schedules, and supporting quality assurance efforts. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and experience in long-term care.
Participate in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities. Assist in facilitating communication between employees at all levels, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs and interests of residents, the community, and the facility. Contribute to community planning related to the facility's services and residents' needs. Assist in developing the monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records.
Support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in creating and implementing plans to address quality deficiencies as directed by the Activities Director. Participate in discharge planning, and develop and implement activity care plans and resident assessments. Assist in arranging transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharges.
Help develop a monthly activity schedule, including outings, scheduled group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents. Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities such as hobbies, crafts, and reading, providing materials like Braille or audiobooks as needed. Assist with documentation, quarterly progress notes, and maintain a clean, orderly, and secure Activity Department.
Supervisory Requirements: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Skills:
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability: Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various instructions.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good visual perception is required.
Work Environment: Typically low to moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
