Job summary

InnovAge is seeking an Activities Assistant to help implement tailored activities for frail and elderly participants at our Colorado ADHC centers. The role supports the Recreation Therapist in designing engaging programs that meet individual needs and abilities.

You will lead groups and assist with daily living tasks, plan events, and help with setup and cleanup. A High School diploma and at least one year of experience with the elderly are required to be considered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• A minimum of one year experience working with the frail or elderly.
• Preferred: experience designing and implementing activities for the elderly; bi-lingual candidates (Spanish, Russian, Punjabi or Hmong).

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and implementation of recreational activities tailored to participants under supervision of Recreation Therapist.
• Assess and reassess participants’ functional status in relation to participation in recreational activities.
• Assist participants with non-skilled activities of daily living.
• Lead or assist in large groups, small groups, 1:1s and individual activities such as exercise, arts and crafts, games and current events.
• Organize and assist in special events and outings in collaboration with the Recreation Therapist.
• Prepare and clean up activities and maintain activity areas.
• Attend participant care meetings as assigned by Recreation Therapist.
• Assist Day Center staff with lunch service and participant arrival as approved by the ADHC Supervisor.
• Order supplies and maintain department equipment.
• Complete assigned charting and reporting as assigned by Recreation Therapist.

The Activities Assistant is responsible for assisting with the implementation of activities for participants that are tailored to the needs and limitations of the frail and elderly.

• Assists with the development and implementation of recreational activities that meet the interests, needs and capabilities of participants under the supervision of Recreation Therapist.
• Assesses and re-assesses participants’ functional status in relationship to participation in recreational activities, in collaboration with the Recreation Therapist.
• Assists participants with non-skilled activities of daily living.
• Leads and/or assists in large groups, small groups 1:1’s and individual activities such as exercise, arts and crafts, games and current events. Assists in the organizing of special events and outings, in collaboration with the Recreation Therapist.
• Performs preparation and cleanup of activities by putting away supplies and straightening out activity areas.
• Attends meetings regarding participant care as assigned by the Recreation Therapist.
• Assists Day Center staff in providing lunch service and assistance with arriving participants, as appropriate and approved by the ADHC Supervisor.
• Orders supplies for department and maintains department equipment, within reason and ability of position.
• Completes assigned charting and reporting as assigned by Recreation Therapist.

REQUIRED

• High School diploma or GED
