Job summary

Hanover Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hanover, PA is seeking an Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility. The role supports the Director of Activities by helping plan, lead, and carry out engaging programs meeting the emotional, recreational, social, and spiritual needs of our residents.

The position is part-time (10 hours per week) with some evenings and every other weekend required, offering flexible scheduling and opportunities to enhance resident well-being through

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior long-term care or elderly/disabled experience preferred.
  • Motivated, dependable, and able to independently lead activities.
  • Flexible schedule, including every other weekend.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and assist resident activities promoting socialization, creativity, exercise, and well-being.
  • Motivate and encourage participation; lead group and one-on-one activities.
  • Assist residents with daily personal activities such as writing letters and making calls.
  • Escort residents to scheduled activities and events.
  • Document resident progress and track activity attendance.
  • Support engagement efforts like mail delivery, plant care, announcements, and fundraising.
  • Provide and supervise craft supplies and equipment.
  • Encourage creativity and maximize independence.

Hanover Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center | Hanover, PA

Hanover Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a motivated and energetic Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility. This role supports the Director of Activities by helping plan, lead, and carry out engaging programs that meet the emotional, recreational, social, and spiritual needs of our residents.

Position Details
  • Part-Time: 10 hour per week | some evenings required

  • Flexible scheduling

  • Every other weekend required

Responsibilities
  • Plan, lead, and assist with resident activities that promote socialization, creativity, exercise, and overall well-being

  • Motivate and encourage resident participation; confidently lead group and one-on-one activities

  • Assist residents with daily personal activities such as writing letters, making phone calls, and participating in programs

  • Escort residents to scheduled activities and events

  • Assist with resident progress documentation and activity attendance tracking

  • Support facility engagement efforts, including mail delivery, plant care, pet/fish care, newsletter preparation, fundraising, and PA announcements

  • Provide and supervise the use of craft supplies, materials, and equipment

  • Encourage residents to express creativity and maximize independence

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Prior long-term care or experience working with elderly or disabled populations preferred

  • Motivated, dependable, and able to independently lead activities

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including every other weekend

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
