Job summary

Western Hills Retirement Village, a Caring Place Healthcare Group Facility, is seeking an Activities Assistant to enrich residents' lives with engaging daily programs.

You will plan activities, encourage participation, document progress, and collaborate with other departments while following HIPAA and infection-control guidelines. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma, being 18+, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience in activities or a healthcare setting preferred but not required.
• Energetic, creative, and compassionate personality.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to remain calm and patient in emotionally demanding situations.
• Comfortable working with elderly individuals, including those who may be ill or cognitively impaired.
• Physically able to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents as needed.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement engaging daily activity programs.
• Encourage and support resident participation through regular visits and relationship-building.
• Lead and facilitate group and individual activities as scheduled.
• Assist in gathering resident interests and contributing to individualized activity care plans.
• Document resident participation and progress in activities.
• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate programs and special events.
• Participate in resident council meetings and provide support as needed.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for residents.
• Follow all infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines.
• Attend required trainings, in-services, and team meetings.
