Job summary

The Pines at Poughkeepsie, an affiliate of National Health Care Associates, is seeking an Activities Assistant. You will plan and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities to create a positive, lively atmosphere for residents.

This position is part-time or per diem at 15 hours per week, with weekly pay. Location: 100 Franklin Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Prior long-term care experience is preferred but training is provided.

Qualifications

• Long-term care or senior living experience preferred; training provided.
• Compassionate and empathetic by nature.
• Interest in therapeutic needs of the aged; able to work with chronically ill.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
• Able to work effectively in a team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and execute activities for residents.
• Engage residents in arts, crafts, games, and music.
• Develop and implement a monthly activities calendar.
• Provide one-on-one support for residents in need.
• Foster community and social interaction among residents.
• Document residents' participation records.

What You'll Do:

As an Activities Assistant, you have a crucial role in planning and implementing a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities. Your creative ideas and enthusiasm will contribute to fostering a positive and lively atmosphere for our residents.

* Part‑time or per diem available; 15 hours per week.

* WEEKLY PAY!!

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning, organizing, and executing a diverse range of activities for residents
• Engage residents in arts and crafts, games, music, and other recreational programs
• Collaborate with the Activities Director to develop and implement a monthly activities calendar
• Provide one-on-one support for residents who may need additional assistance
• Foster a sense of community and social interaction among residents
• Document and maintain records of residents' participation in activities

Rate of Pay

USD $16.97 - USD $18.04 /Hr.

Qualifications of an Activities Assistant include:

• Previous experience in a Long-Term Care or senior living setting is preferred but not required - training will be provided
• Compassionate and empathetic nature
• Interest in the therapeutic needs of the aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
