Job summary

Premier Senior Living, LLC seeks a Life Enrichment Coordinator to plan, organize and direct activities that meet residents' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. You will collaborate with the Life Enrichment Director and support the development of engaging programs for seniors in our NY communities.

You will coordinate activities, document progress, and foster a compassionate, inclusive environment while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in a resident activities program with adults is preferred.
  • Excellent creative and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with residents who have cognitive, physical, or sensory disabilities.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents.
  • Must be computer literate and able to use company software.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Life Enrichment Director to develop, organize, and implement activity programs within budget.
  • Initiate and promote activities inside and outside the community while ensuring resident safety.
  • Maintain records of activity programs and resident participation toward care plan goals.
  • Develop and distribute monthly calendar of events; provide copies to resident rooms.
  • Support and train volunteers; assist in developing Resident Council.
  • Follow Standard Precautions and HIPPA; adhere to Residents' Rights and Policies.

Position Summary

The position is to plan, organize, and direct a program of activities, which provides opportunity for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression and fulfills basic physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs, which will be available to all residents of the community. The position also assists the physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individual and family to explore appropriate avocation/leisure pursuits.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist the Life Enrichment Director as needed to develop, organize, and implement a program of activities to meet the social, emotional, physical and other therapeutic needs of residents as identified on the residents’ plan of care and within the specified budget.
  • Initiate and promote activities both within the community and outside the community, as weather permits, insuring the safety and wellbeing of each resident at all times.
  • Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for activities and events as necessary.
  • Consistently maintain standards for activity scheduling and documentation established by policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Solicit the involvement of the community (clubs, groups, organizations, agencies, churches, individuals, etc.) when planning community activities and events.
  • Maintain detailed records of activity programs and participation of individual residents, identifying progress toward established care plan goals.
  • Assist with the development and distribution of a monthly calendar of events. Provide a copy of the calendar in each resident’s room, and at least one large calendar prominently displayed in the community.
  • Assist with maintaining a pictorial scrapbook of activities and events sponsored by the community during the year.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining an active volunteer program through marketing, development, support, and organization. Assign and train volunteers and maintain documentation of volunteer hours.
  • Assist the residents with organizing and maintaining active Resident Council.
  • Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the information.
  • Comply with the Residents’ Rights and Community Policies and Procedures.
  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and community records/information, HIPPA.
Skills and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in a resident activities program with an adult population preferred.
  • Excellent creative and communication skills.
  • Skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
  • Must be computer literate and able to utilize company chosen software.
  • Perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements of your position including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise move objects for extended periods of time.
Certificates and Licenses
  • Prior completion of a state-approved training course, or willingness to complete a state approved training course within six months of employment.
  • Current valid documentation of successful completion of the “American Red Cross” or American Heart Association" CPR/First Aid Certification for Health Care Providers (BLS). CPR certification must remain current during employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license as some travel may be required.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Meet all health requirements including TB including all required immunizations.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must possess sight or hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the communities, which may include a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to walk the community for most of the day and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 5 pounds and a maximum of 50 pounds, periodically and/or as needed.
